Notified Bodies (NoBo) and CE marking

A notified body (NoBo) is an organization designated by an EU country to assess the conformity of certain products before being placed on the market. These bodies carry out tasks related to conformity assessment procedures set out in the applicable legislation , when a third party is required. The European Commission publishes a list of such notified bodies with notification.

Without Notification, a Certification Body is not a NoBo under EU law, and any certification consulting services are unregulated and have no value in case of customs and trades in EU market.

CE marking is only obligatory for products for which EU specifications exist and require the affixing of CE marking. CE marking affixed after testing and the conformity assessment means high safety, health, and environmental protection requirements to be traded in the European Economic Area (EEA).
